Valve forging process

What is forging?

Casting differs from forging in the process and the techniques involved. Forging valves involves shaping the valves because it is in the solid foam like casting. Forging valves does not need the heating temperature of the metal. It restricts the final product dimension and complexity. It is more than any intensive labor job.

How does the forging process work?

Forging is defined as the process of deforming, heating and finishing the metal piece. Forging is made by forcing materials into best shapes either by the force of the falling ram and by die pressing the metal piece. It also squeezes to form the good parts.  Due to the realigning of the grains of metal it is heated and deformed. Forgings can withstand extreme pressure and marinate the structural process under stress. As soon as the process starts, forging has a good range of uses that range from heavy medical supplies, trucks, aerospace and automotive parts.

Valve manufacturing process

The manufacturing process of industrial valves is very complex and it also contains many variables. The raw materials that are used in the manufacturing are very critical to the final product. The tools that are used for processing are geometry, angle and shape of the valve. To understand the manufacturing process of valves we should know different steps that are involved. This process consists of many dissolving metals, shaping materials, cleaning up and casting. The final product is processed and it is tested for quality as well as for pressure and temperature.

Valve forging process

When you need a forges valve the process of fabrication works differently from other valves. Just like cast valves, forged valve manufacturing processes begin with the engineering and designing of the valves. Users can choose many different design factors to suit their needs.  The forging process creates parts that are much stronger than those manufactured by other processes. Forging took advantage of the metal natural grain flow. It shapes the grain flow when cutting through the grain. It is also lost when casting is parted.

During the forging process it helps in heating the metal and then it bends, shapes and compresses. It fits the forged valve design that helps in forging machines.  This helps form the metal into the specific shape while the machine pressure is applied to force the metal into the right shape. For larger forging valves it is required to weld them together by using different components. Once all the components are properly shaped and forged the valves are inspected, tested and assembled to ensure the quality control.

Production of forged valves

Forged valves are produced by shaping and forming the metal in its own solid form. It is done with the use of tools, heat and dies to actually create the valve shape. Forging offers with the single piece of versus and the welded unit. The weld quality is hard to replicate without any inspections. Forging can be of any shape and it reduces the joining needs for multiple pieces. Reducing the joints helps in improving the overall strength and the forging doesn’t need to be welded and fastened together.
